Agriculture & Ecological Treatment

Global agriculture faces a dual challenge: increasing food production while reducing environmental footprint. Simultaneously, industrial water treatment and municipal wastewater treatment require more efficient scale inhibition and purification solutions. Chemical fertilizers, bio-pesticides, and water treatment chelating agents are becoming central to sustainable solutions. This article details the practical applications of our products including Ammonium Chloride, Ammonium Bicarbonate, Hinokitiol, EDTA series (EDTA, EDTA-2Na, EDTA-4Na), and Calcium Chloride in agricultural productivity, green plant protection, and ecological water treatment.

Quick-Acting Nitrogen Fertilizers: Ammonium Chloride and Ammonium Bicarbonate

Nitrogen is one of the most important nutrient elements for plant growth. Ammonium Chloride contains approximately 24-26% nitrogen and is a physiologically acidic quick-acting nitrogen fertilizer. In southern paddy fields, the ammonium ions of Ammonium Chloride are readily adsorbed by soil colloids, releasing slowly and reducing leaching losses. The chloride ion in Ammonium Chloride requires dosage control for certain chloride-sensitive crops (such as tobacco, potato, grape), but for rice, wheat, corn, and cotton, Ammonium Chloride is a cost-effective nitrogen source.

Ammonium Bicarbonate contains approximately 17% nitrogen, is weakly alkaline, and rapidly decomposes into ammonium ions, carbon dioxide, and water in the soil without leaving acid radicals. Ammonium Bicarbonate is particularly suitable as a basal or top-dressing fertilizer for vegetables, fruit trees, and tea. As Ammonium Bicarbonate readily absorbs moisture and decomposes (especially at high temperatures), it is recommended to store in a cool, dry place and apply via deep placement with soil covering to improve utilization efficiency.

Green Plant Protection: Hinokitiol

Hinokitiol (β-thujaplicin) is a natural tropolone compound extracted from cypress trees such as Taiwanese hinoki. Hinokitiol exhibits broad-spectrum antibacterial and antifungal activity. In field trials, Hinokitiol has demonstrated significant inhibitory effects against rice blast, tomato gray mold, and strawberry anthracnose. Compared to conventional chemical pesticides, Hinokitiol has low toxicity, low residue, and a short field half-life (approximately several days), meeting the input requirements for green food and organic agriculture. Hinokitiol can also be used for post-harvest preservation, such as dipping citrus fruits and berries to extend shelf life.

Water Treatment and Chelation: EDTA Series Products

In industrial water treatment, the deposition of hardness ions (calcium, magnesium) and heavy metal ions is the main cause of boiler scaling, cooling tower efficiency loss, and pipeline corrosion. EDTA (ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid) and its salts (EDTA-2Na, EDTA-4Na) are efficient hexadentate chelating agents.

  • EDTA: Effective in acidic to neutral pH ranges, commonly used for cleaning existing scale and rust.

  • EDTA-2Na: Has good water solubility with pH around 4-5, suitable for formulations requiring pH control, such as certain textile auxiliaries and metal cleaners.

  • EDTA-4Na: Exhibits strong chelation under alkaline conditions (pH 10-12), widely used in boiler water treatment, cooling circulating water, and detergents.

In reverse osmosis (RO) systems, adding low doses (1-10 ppm) of EDTA or EDTA-4Na prevents calcium sulfate and calcium carbonate scaling, extending membrane service life. Additionally, the EDTA series is used in soil remediation—by chelating heavy metals such as lead, cadmium, and mercury to facilitate phytoremediation or soil washing.

Multi-functional Additive: Calcium Chloride

Calcium Chloride has multiple uses in the ecological treatment field. In cold regions, Calcium Chloride is a common de-icer and pavement anti-freeze agent, with a freezing point as low as below -50°C. In road dust control, spraying Calcium Chloride solution keeps the road surface moist and reduces dust emission. In water treatment, Calcium Chloride serves as a calcium ion source for adjusting water hardness or assisting phosphate precipitation for phosphorus removal.

Conclusion

From Ammonium Chloride in paddy fields to Hinokitiol in greenhouses, from EDTA-4Na in boiler rooms to Calcium Chloride on winter roads—our agriculture and ecological treatment product line spans multiple scenarios from fields to factories, from plant protection to environmental protection.
